Amount of Soup Needed
- Professional and Non-Professional: Enough to give a small sample to approximately 400 people. Cooks generally bring at least 8-10 quarts and must use their own crockpot. It is better to plan for more rather than less in the event that your soup is a popular one!
- Chefs and Professional Jr. Chefs: Enough for approximately 50 tastes. You may need to double a typical soup recipe. The left over amount will be made available to the general public.
Other Things Needed to Bring:
- Professional Chefs please bring your own tasting cups.
- Serving utensils
- A ladle (spoon) rest
- Extension cords and power strips
What does the Partnership Provide?
- Table tent with each cook’s name and soup, as well as your business name if you are entered in our Professional category.
- Bread for customers to clear their palette between tastings.
- Sample cups, napkins and spoons. Note: Attendees are provided a tasting spoon at entry.
- Power strips and extension cords. Note: It is helpful if cooks bring their own power strips and extension cords. We have several, but not enough for each cook.
- Waters and sodas for purchase (provided by firehouse)
- Each registered participant receives two admission tickets for soup tasting
Who receives awards?
Winners for Professional and Non-Professional will be chosen based on popular vote. There will be a first, second and third place award in both the Non-Professional and Professional categories. They will be announced after all results are tallied (approximately 2:00 pm).
“Chef’s Choice” is an award for a Non-Professional chef given by a group of Professional Judges.
Jr. Chef Winners are chosen based on a panel of Professional Chefs judging. There is a first, second, and third place prizes for both age groups.
The winner of the Professional Student Chef receives an award.
